Dr. Melissa Kirkpatrick is our Director of Education Ministries. In this position, she coordinates the Christian Formation programs at MPC and is a resource to the middle and high school youth groups.
A Certified Christian Educator and ruling elder, Melissa has served several churches in National Capital Presbytery and has also worked with several Presbytery committees, including the Worship & Theology Committee, which she co-chaired for four years. She served on the Presbytery Council and now is a member of the Commission on the Preparation for Ministry.
Originally from San Antonio, Texas, she holds degrees from Southwestern University (TX), Wesley Theological Seminary, and American University, where she completed a doctorate in history, focusing on the role of religion in American culture. She teaches the seminar in Reformed Theology offered biennially at Wesley, and she is also a member of the Reformed Institute's Company of Teachers. In that capacity, she teaches courses on various topics in American religious history.
She has three wonderful adult children, and, as a long-time educator, has no opposition to the use of glitter.
